Research interests

Dr. Ylber Marku is a Cold War historian, and his research interests include Albania’s
Communist past, East and Southeast European Cold War Exchanges and Expertise
Circulation with Asia, Latin America, Africa and the West, Sino-Albanian relations during
the Cold War, East and Southeast European History, and Economic History. Currently, he
is working on his project “Serving the Revolution: Educational Networks in Communist
Albania” and is concluding his work on the monograph on Sino-Albanian relations during
the Cold War. His previous work was published in leading journals in his field, among
others in the Journal of Cold War Studies, Cold War History, and The International History
Review. He has also contributed book chapters to edited volumes in Italy, Albania, and
China.
